New Entrance for The Mullen Library

An elegant grand staircase leading directly to the main stacks hall, and to the main circulation of the library.

For my senior Fall 2022 semester the project was to create a new entrance to the back side of The Mullen Library located at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. The need for this new entrance comes from the construction of The Conway Nursing School, which creates a new entrance route to the university. The assignment called for as little change as possible to the existing facade, which is why I chose to create a beautiful entrance staircase. To tie the new facade with the existing facade I incorporated a vegetation path leading towards the new entrance.
